What designs work best?
What materials are strongest?
We started to design our "dream" playground that potentially will be submitted to the City of Calgary park development. Ranchlands is currently planning a new playground for the soccer fields on the West side, across from the DQ strip mall.
See some of our creative designs below...

Canadian Citizenship Ceremony
Today at St.Rita School we hosted a Citizenship Ceremony. It was a great learning experience for our students. We saw 20 people from around the world take their final step toward becoming a Canadian citizen. All students at our school did an amazing job of being great listeners and were respectful throughout the ceremony.
Grade 3 and 4 came together and sang the song "River of Nations" to welcome our new citizens to Canada.
"River of Nations" is a song written by Alex Cuba (Spanish), Andrea Menard and Heather Rankin, Dardia Joseph (French) and Kaniehtiio Horn (Mohawk). These artists were participants on the Canada C3 journey. The Canada C3 ship sailed around Canada in June 2017, coast to coast to coast, in 150 days, to celebrate Canada's 150th bday. The journey focused on showcasing Canada's people, the environment and the story of reconciliation.
Here is a short clip of what they looked like and sounded like....
WELL DONE EVERYONE!! I was so proud of you all💓

I will be a Hummingbird! and prayer writing
This month we will be focusing on showing love, kindness and respect.
We watched an Indigenous story called "I will be a Hummingbird". We learned about perseverance, about never giving up no matter how hard something might seem, and that we are a family! We never need to work/feel alone.
Students will reflect on the following three questions in the first photo, over the month of February.
We have also been leading prayer on morning announcements. See some prayers below that have been shared with our school community.
Google Earth
We have started to use Google Earth to tell stories!!!
We are starting off by locating our homes and mapping out our route from home to school.
Mammal reflective Sketchnote
We reflected on the learning we have done throughout our journey at Stampede School with the horses and through our journey with Rocky.
Below is a snapshot of some of the student sketchnotes on Mammals:
Math Game: Slam Dunk
Slam Dunk!
A math game that can help practice regrouping when adding.
For now we are adding 3digit and 2 digit numbers in this game. As we practice 3digit and 3 digit adding in call we will slowly progress and modify the game as needed.
Please find time to play this game at home with family. Please encourage your child to LABEL their numbers with a PLACE-VALUE CHART. This will help them to identify the value of each sigit. Always start by adding the ONES first, just in case they have some digits they can regroup.
Have fun!!
Stampede School Reflections
We have continued to take reflect on the learning done at Stanpede School and through poetry and showcase we have demonstrated some important, memorable and key parts of the week. See below for our bulletin showcase, some 6room poetry and some reflection sketches.

Beakerhead
We wrapped up Beakerhead last week!
The winning submission to the Beakerhead Ingenuity Challenge was "The Giver".
Please have your child explain how The Giver used an elastic band to create movement, how it solved a problem and how it implemented empathy!
Stone Soup
We participated in a community activity today by making Stone Soup!
Students devoured it!
We had all sorts of veggies; carrots, potatoes, peas, celery, spinach, broccoli, peppers and onions!!
We read the story Stone Soup and talked about feasts and community gatherings.
This will now take us on a journey around the world to compare different traditional, community activities.
Dance Residency!!
Mr.Matt is back with Danceplay and we are so thrilled!
Check out some of the fun we had today...
